Grab-N-Go, Healthy & Simple Snacks (Kid-Approved!)

As moms, we are always looking for ‘fast food’ options for our kids as life tends to be a little bit crazy. Here are some healthy ‘fast food’ snacks that will keep your kids excited about eating their nourishing snacks!

Protein + Healthy Fats for a Healthy Snack

These snacks are great for school lunches, after school snacks, when you need to grab-n-go, or an after dinner snack. Making sure you pack some protein & healthy fats into your kids snack routine is helpful to keep their energy and blood sugar stable. Although we try our best to avoid plastic when we can, using these plastic to-go cups is super helpful for busy Moms. Your kids can take and toss & you don’t have to worry about the clean up. You can also involve your kids in preparing these snacks. WARNING! You’re kids may eat these up before they make it into the fridge!

Apples + Festive Peanut Butter (Add cinnamon & organic maple syrup to organic peanut butter or any nut butter. Blend well).


Apples are in season so this snack is a staple at the moment. Making this ahead of time, makes this a great self serve snack. Our kids devour this festive peanut butter with apples. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is an old proverb that does make a lot of sense. Apples contain over 10,000 phytonutrients! No vitamin will give you that same whole food nutrition. When I was younger I loved Red Delicious apples. Somewhere along the way I became a Gala apple girl, and therefore my kids love Gala apples. Our boys also go for green apples, but for some reason my daughters don’t care for the tart taste. Toss the apples in lemon juice or apple juice to prevent browning. Cinnamon can help prevent browning too. Don’t dismiss cinnamon as just your average spice. It has medicinal properties that has been known for thousands of years. It is one of the healthiest spices on the planet!

Grapes + Cheese


Easy peasy! Our kids prefer green grapes over red. I reach for organic grapes since they are on the dirty dozen list. You may want to slice them in 4’s if you’re kids are young to prevent choking. Organic Valley Mozzarella & Organic Havarti cheese are kid favorites. If your kids are dairy-free, you can find many options at Heinens; Follow Your Heart, Kite Hill, & Daiya Monterey Jack style are some of our dairy-free favorites. While I stick to about a 99% dairy-free diet, my kids are not completely dairy-free. They drink coconut, hemp and Ripple milk but I occasionally buy cheese for them.

Crazy Monkey Baking Granola + Banana


Crazy Monkey Baking Pumpkin Seed & Spice granola is a great fall festive snack. Pair it with a banana you have a yummy treat/snack for your kids & you! The Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter flavor is also a huge hit around here. This is also a local company & you probably know by now I love to support local.

Hummus + Veggies

This will always go down as one of our kids favorite snacks. Hummus has a small amount of protein and also contains healthy fats that are especially good for our growing little humans. Hummus is truly a kid favorite food. Start them young & introduce it while they are little. If they are tired of veggies with hummus, try crackers. Guacamole + Multi-Grain Tortilla Chips

Yum!!!! Guacamole never gets old around here. Buy the pre-packaged guacamole to save yourself some time for when you’re in a pinch. We like the Food Should Taste Good Multigrain Tortilla Chips.

Whole Milk Kefir

Kefir is another staple I try to add this into our kids diet. It is such a healthy drink that is so beneficial to their gut microbiome! It contains tons of healthy bacteria that you probably keep hearing about. Most of our immune system is in our gut so we want to balance out our good & bad bacteria.

Boiled eggs + carrots

Make a dozen boiled eggs in the beginning of the week. I can’t tell you how many times hard boiled eggs saves me! Add a little sea salt & pepper and viola!Only one of our kids cares for boiled eggs. I guess you can’t win em all. They all have such different taste buds!

Popcorn + Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is a health food! It is a great staple to keep in your kids diets and yours as well. Dark chocolate is super nutritious & is loaded with antioxidants. We prefer Enjoy Life Dark Chocolate. An added bonus is that this brand is a good source of iron. Mix some chocolate chips with your favorite popcorn & you have a satisfying snack! Homemade Trail Mix


This can be anything you have in the pantry! I usually throw sunflower seeds, cashews, dark chocolate, and pumpkin seeds together. Raisins, dried fruit and almonds are good options as well.
