Healthy Valentine’s Day Breakfast For Kids
These breakfast ideas are simple, healthy and doable for busy Moms. Valentine's Day is another holiday where the unhealthy treats are inevitable so it's nice to keep it healthy at home.
FRUIT ON A STICK
How stinkin' cute are these?! The best part is you don't have to be a "Pinterest" mom to do this. You can buy heart shape cut outs from Amazon, Michael's or any local craft store. Mine was only $.69. I prefer to buy organic strawberries.
Strawberries are on the top of the list in the "Dirty Dozen". Children and babies are susceptible to even low levels of pesticide exposure. Check out this study on 'Pesticides in the Diets of Infants and Children'. Watermelon is not on the Dirty Dozen list. One of the many great things about Heinens is all of their produce is nonGMO! How to make them>> Cut off the stem of the strawberry. Place the heart cut out on top and push down. Slide onto a wooden skewer. Slice watermelon into half inch slices, and press heart cut out in watermelon. Place on stick. Alternate and put a nonGMO marshmallow at the end.
These pancakes are a kid favorite for breakfast. You can buy a large heart shaped cut out for about $.99 but you can also just use a knife to make the shape of a heart.
3 Pasture eggs
3-4 TBSP quinoa flakes (I use I Heart Keenwah, located in the cereal aisle at Heinens)
1/2 TSP Sprinkles (AKA organic chia seeds)
Organic maple syrup
Whisk all ingredients together with a fork or pour into a high powered blender. (They turn out even better in the blender but I mostly just whisk together with a fork). Melt 2 TBSP of coconut oil or butter in a cast iron pan. Pour batter in pan to make pancakes. Serve with Heinen's Organic Maple Syrup & fresh fruit.
1 cup frozen organic strawberries
1 cup S.O. Delicious Original Coconut Milk
1/2 TBSP organic chia seeds/ 2 TBSP pumpkin seeds/ 1 TBSP hemp hearts (Optional Superfoods)
Place all ingredients in a high power blender. Blend. Enjoy!
